AEMO Australian Energy Market Operator periodically refreshes the pre-production system with data from the production system. An outage of up to five days can occur to the pre-production environment during this period. Participant access is not restricted. However, AEMO does not guarantee the pre-production data content or system availability. During the refresh, access to other AEMO systems such as AWEFS Australian Wind Energy Forecasting System. Established in response to the growth in intermittent generation in the NEM, and the increasing impact this growth was having on NEM forecasting processes. The system aims to provide better forecasts that will drive improved efficiency of overall NEM dispatch and pricing, and permit better network stability and security management., EMMS Energy Market Management System (formerly MMS); software, hardware, network and related processes., OPDMS Operations and Planning Data Management System. A software system that supports the planning and operations functions in an electricity market environment., and STTM Short Term Trading Market. A wholesale market that facilitates short-term gas trading between gas shippers and users. STTM hubs operate in Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney. may be intermittently affected.
During a refresh, AEMO expects participants to:
- Observe the backup production date when the data is applied to the pre-production environment.
- Based on AEMO’s project changes production backup date, review if you need to refresh your pre-production data from your production system to align with AEMO’s pre-production. How you do the refresh depends on the configuration of your systems.

Participant impact
During the MSATS Market Settlement and Transfer Solutions. The procedures published by AEMO under clause 7.2.8 of the National Electricity Rules, which include those governing the recording of financial responsibility for energy flows at a connection point, the transfer of that responsibility between market participants, and the recording of energy flows at a connection point. outage, from a Registration perspective, participants are impacted by the following :
User rights management (URM)
Participants can still log in or use APIs in pre-production during the outage, using existing accounts.
User accounts cannot be created or modified by Support Hub while the MSATS Browser is offline.
If possible, any new accounts should be set up before the outage.
Registration tasks
- As previously mentioned, URM User Rights Management; see the Guide to URM on AEMO's website accounts cannot be created during the outage.
- Retail FTP File transfer protocol accounts and folders can still be created during the outage
- MSATS Participant and Standing data cannot be created or modified during the outage.
Retail functions for participants

Participants PA’s cannot create or modify user accounts and rights during the outage.

Participants cannot login to the MSATS browser during the outage.

Participants cannot use Retail B2B or B2M, including B2B Accreditation, while the Batch Handlers remain down.

Participants cannot test FTP connections during the outage.
MSATS participant and standing data does not get removed or modified by the refresh. There is no need to reload data as there is in Wholesale.

MSATS snapshot report
Because participants' systems are configured differently, you need to assess the impact of a pre-production refresh on your systems and make a business decision Energy Rules Terms if you need to apply an MSATS report. If you feel your production data is very misaligned with AEMO’s, you can request a Snapshot report, otherwise you can keep it up-to-date using C1, C4, Change requests, and Notifications.
