Pre-production Refresh
AEMO Australian Energy Market Operator periodically refreshes the pre-production system with data from the production system. An outage of up to five days can occur to the pre-production environment during this period. Participant access is not restricted. During a refresh, AEMO expects participants to:
- Observe the backup production date when the data is applied to the pre-production environment.
- Based on AEMO’s project changes production backup date, review if you need to refresh your pre-production data from your production system to align with AEMO’s pre-production. How you do the refresh depends on the configuration of your systems.
EMMS and Retail Pre-production Refresh
AEMO refreshes the EMMS and Retail pre-production databases with production data from 4 March – 8 March 2024. During this period, the pre-production database is unavailable to the participants.
The following dates are when the production extract is taken and applied to pre-production:
- Wholesale: 7 February 2024
- Retail: 4 March 2024
MSATS Snapshot report

Wholesale electricity refresh timeline
Any transactions or data changes made in the pre-production between 7 February to 7 March are overwritten by the 7 February production data copy.
