Codes maintenance

For help understanding the codes, see the MSATS Procedures.

This menu item contains read-only tables of all the codes used in MSATS Market Settlement and Transfer Solutions. The procedures published by AEMO under clause 7.2.8 of the National Electricity Rules, which include those governing the recording of financial responsibility for energy flows at a connection point, the transfer of that responsibility between market participants, and the recording of energy flows at a connection point..

Codes maintenance user rights access

Except for NMI See Relevant Rules or Procedures Ranges (see NMI ranges), Participant Administrators control access to Codes Maintenance using the Codes Maintenance entity in the Administration menu in the MSATS Web Portal.

Viewing codes maintenance

  1. On the main menu, click Administration and then click Codes Maintenance.
  1. The Main Codes Maintenance interface displays. Click a code group from the list to view the details. For help, see Codes maintenance lists.

For help understanding the fields, see Standing Data for MSATS.

  1. The list displays. In each Codes Maintenance List you can:
  • Sort by ascending or descending order.
    Click the orange column headings. For example in Change reason codes, Code, Start Date or End Date are sortable columns. The green arrow indicates the sort order
  • Filter the rows.
    Click the drop-down arrows and select a filter parameter. For example in Change reason codes, Code and Activity Status are filterable columns.
  • See further information.
    In the Action column, click Show All.

Change reason codes

A list of change reasons that govern the population of data in a Change Request A transaction submitted by participants in MSATS whenever they want to create or update data held in MSATS..

Deregistration codes

The code denoting a participant is deregistered.

DLF codes

Provides a list of Distribution Loss Factor (DLF Distribution Loss Factor. The loss of energy, due to electrical resistance and the heating of conductors, as electricity flows through the transmission and distribution networks.) codes and their relevant values. All NMIs are assigned a DLF Code A code used in MSATS to identify a distribution loss factor..

Embedded network identifier codes

This table contains the embedded network identifier codes used to identify the embedded network a NMI belongs to, either as a Parent NMI or a Child NMI The NMI assigned to a child connection point..

If on a NMI record this field is not populated, it is assumed the NMI is not the Child NMI of any other Parent NMI.

Error codes

The list of error codes used in MSATS and B2B Business-to-Business. Generic term used to refer to defined business-to-business interactions between participants; excludes interactions between a participant and market systems such as MSATS..

Jurisdiction codes

The Jurisdiction participating jurisdiction (defined in the NER) codes identifying the Jurisdiction where a NMI is situated.

Network tariff codes

Network Tariff The rate the network business charges the retailer for the use of their network. Codes supplied and published by the LNSP.

Metering installation type codes

Identifies the type of Metering installation as specified in the NER National Electricity Rules. The rules made under the National Electricity Law (NEL). They govern the day-to-day operations of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and provide the framework for network regulation..

NMI classification codes

Informs MSATS of the flow of electricity at the connection point where the NMI information applies.

NMI ranges

Displays a read-only list of all NMI Ranges including those with inactive status. Participant Administrators control access to NMI Ranges using the NMI Ranges entity in the Administration menu in the MSATS Web Portal.

The default order for the NMI Ranges list is:

The DRSP/ENM/LNSP Participant ID.

The start of the NMI range assigned to a Participant ID.

Defines the format of the NMI block and if the NMI Range CR validation applies.

Active or inactive.

The date the record was created or changed.

NMI Status Codes

Used to determine if a NMI can be used for a retail transfer. The NMI Status Code A code used in MSATS to determine if a NMI can be the subject of a retail transfer. For more detail, see the CATS Procedures. X is the only status not allowing NMI transfers between Retailer See Relevant Rules or Proceduress.

Objection Codes

Participants use.Objection A type of transaction raised in relation to a Change Request. Codes to object to a Change Request The way information is returned from an API. In a request, the client provides a resource URL with the proper authorization to an API server. The API returns a response with the information requested.. They are applied to each Jurisdiction and each Change Reason Code A code that identifies a type of Change Request. It defines rules such as what NMI information can be updated and which roles will receive a Change Request Notification each time the Change Request Status is updated. in accordance with the Objection Rules The rules applicable in MSATS that determine how Objections are used for each Change Reason Code. Role ID Codes

The list of participant Role The role a company has with a connection point in CATS. A single company can have more than one role associated with a NMI. IDs used in MSATS.

TNI Codes

A list of Transmission Network Connection Point identifier codes.
